Makaelynn Update

I just wanted to post an update on Makaelynn. She is now 5 days old and she is doing pretty good. Her bilirubin is too high so they have her under the lights 24 hrs a day and it is going down so that is a relief. We were hoping she would be coming home this weekend but it is starting to look like next week which is fine as long as she is doing good. Its been hard because they wont let me drive for 2 weeks so I have to wait until someone can take me up to the hospital so I try to stay as long as possible because she is changing so much already its crazy! Dale is having a hard time trying to figure out what is going on but loves to see pictures of this baby girl he calls (sissy) my parents have been great to let him stay with them and they are taking him to St. George today for Courtney's spring break and they will be there until Sunday so its nice to know that he is taken care of! I just wanted to thank everyone for all their thoughts and prayers you will never know how much we appreciate them! We love all of you!

Makaelynn Lindsay Hennen

Makaelynn Lindsay Hennen

Born: April 12, 2008

Time: 1:05 pm

Weight: 4 lbs 6 oz

Length: 16 inches

Well our daughter is here almost 6 weeks too soon! I came in for a routine NST Saturday morning and they had just put me on the monitor and all the sudden the nurse ran out and came back with like 6 more nurses and the anthesiaologist. One minute I was dressed the next I wasn't and getting a IV and signing consent forms for a C-Section. I guess her heart rate went from 143 to 60 in like 2 secs. It was crazy! They took me into the operating room at 12:28 and she was here at 1:05 weighing in at only 4 lbs 6 oz and 16 inches long. She had only gained 6 oz in 2 1/2 weeks so it was a good thing they took her! I guess the cord was around her neck thats the only thing my dr could figure for the drop. I got to see her for a sec then they took her downstairs to work her over and they found out what the mass in her cord was- it was part of her intestines so while i was in recovery they were working on transport to Primary Childrens and they were here within and hour and a half. I got to see her for about 15 minutes before they took her, it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life to say goodbye to my sweet baby girl but her Daddy got to ride with her and has been with her ever since. She had surgery at about 10 pm last night to put the little bit of intestines back in her body and now she is doing great! They told my husband she should be home in about 7-10 days so hopefully! I will be discharged Tuesday morning and will be heading straight up there to be with my daughter. Thank you to all of you who have fasted and prayed we really appreciate all the support!

We love you,

Pregnancy Update

So today has been interesting! I spent half the day at the hospital on a monitor because Makaelynn is not cooperating. I have been having to do Non-stress test weekly and she does not do what she is suppose to do. And the last 2 days she hasn't been moving hardly at all so I totally freaked because when i was 20 weeks we had what I thought would be a normal ultrasound, but we found out she has a 2 vessel cord instead of a 3 vessel cord which can cause all sorts of health problems like- kidney problems (in some cases only 1) , heart problems, down syndrome and they don't get enough blood flow and nutrients as they would with 3 vessels so they don't grow at a good rate during the last trimester. Well I wasn't having any of those problems until a couple weeks ago and I went to my appointment today and I am 34 1/2 weeks and only measuring at 30 weeks so it goes to show she is not growing and during the stress test she just didn't do well so they did an ultrasound and monitored her for a half hour she moved maybe 2 times and she would not try to take a breath on her own so the Dr. I saw today talked with the other Dr and decided to send me to the hospital and start me on petocin and see how she tolerated my contractions. Apparently she handled them well cause they took me off and sent me home after 3 hours of contractions (its a good thing you forget what it really feels like!!!) And I have to go back tomorrow for a nst again so we will see if she doesn't do well they will take her. I just dont know what to think I am just frustrated and I am totally worried about my daughter and hope everything will work out for the best!
